ASPPH Presents Webinar Recap: Academic-Practice Partnerships in Action through the APLPH Caucus

February 18, 2026

ASPPH recently hosted the ASPPH Presents webinar Collaborating for Impact: Academic-Practice Partnerships in Action through the APLPH Caucus, highlighting how schools and programs of public health and their practice partners can work together to advance applied public health efforts. The session focused on developing practice-informed topics, crafting strong collaborative abstracts, and navigating the abstract submission process for the Academic and Practice Linkages in Public Health (APLPH) Caucus at the American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting.

The APLPH Caucus is proudly sponsored by ASPPH in partnership with the Public Health Foundation and the Public Health Accreditation Board.

Moderated by Kaitlin Tager, ASPPH's Director of Program Administration and APLPH Caucus Program Chair, the webinar featured speakers:

  • Mark Adams, MPH, REHS (Health Commissioner, Lorain County Public Health)
  • Rita Aggarwal, MA (Director, Proyecto Raices)
  • Margo Erme, DO, MPH (Retired Medical Director, Summit County Public Health)
  • Lisa Macon Harrison, MPH (Health Director, Granville Vance Public Health)
  • Karl Johnson, PhD (Assistant Professor, Department of Public Health Leadership and Practice, UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health)
  • Amy Lee, MD, MPH, MBA, CPH (Program Director, Consortium of Eastern Ohio Master of Public Health Programs)

Presenters shared real-world examples and strategies for sustaining academic-practice partnerships, discussed approaches to supporting conference participation, including funding and travel considerations, and emphasized the value of staying engaged with the APLPH Caucus throughout the year.

The webinar recording is now available. To learn more about how ASPPH supports and elevates academic-practice collaboration, visit ASPPH's Academic and Practice Partnerships page.
