APCIA Applauds Strong Committee Vote to Advance TRIA Legislation

WASHINGTON - The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) released the following statement applauding the strong vote to advance the TRIA Program Authorization Act of 2026. The legislation moved forward with a strong bipartisan vote (51-2) out of the House Financial Services Committee. The following statement may be attributed to David A. Sampson, APCIA's president and CEO.

"Today's strong bipartisan vote marks a very important first step toward ensuring the reauthorization of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program. Maintaining this backstop is critical to preventing market disruptions and preserving the program's vital economic protections against acts of terrorism. We appreciate Chairman Hill, Ranking Member Waters, and the House Financial Services Committee for their attention to this critical issue.

"The strong bipartisan vote is a testament to the program's proven record of effectiveness over more than two decades. We look forward to working with lawmakers to perfect this critical legislation as it moves forward."
