Texas' 89th Legislative session kicked off January 14th, and tackling Texas' housing affordability challenges will likely be a high priority. To keep our listeners informed, Michael Wilt sat down with Meredyth Fowler with Texas Mortgage Bankers Association and Tray Bates with Texas REALTORS® to preview the session and analyze the issues, policies, and potential bills that impact homeownership in Texas.

Currently serving as the General Counsel for the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association, Meredyth Fowler is a government relations professional with over 20 years of experience. She has cultivated relationships throughout the Texas Capitol and within state agencies. Throughout her career Meredyth has provided effective strategic counsel on a wide variety of issues, including but not limited to election issues, pensions and investments, community banking, telecommunications and broadband, occupational licensing, agency rulemaking processes and requests for proposals. Meredyth is adept in the legislative drafting process as well as the Texas appropriations/finance process.
