Where Are the Checks? Donald Trump Owes Americans a Refund Arrow

Donald Trump has repeatedly promised that Americans will receive rebate checks, but one year later, working families have yet to see a single dime as they bear 95% of the costs of Trump's erratic trade war.

On Friday, the Supreme Court struck down Trump's illegal tariffs. Now, Trump is doubling down on his reckless trade war and hiking tariffs even higher, announcing over the weekend that he is increasing his 10% global tariff to 15%.

First, Trump promised "A dividend of at least $2,000 a person…will be paid to everyone" through tariff revenue. And as recently as a few weeks ago, when asked if he could promise Americans they will get rebate checks, Trump said, "Yeah, sure. I can do that."

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

"Donald Trump promised Americans that they would get a slice of the billions of dollars of revenue his reckless trade war has allegedly brought in, but one year later, the only people reaping the benefits of Trump's economy are himself and his wealthy donors. Meanwhile, working families get nothing except sky-high grocery receipts, unaffordable health care premiums, and a tanking job market. How much longer will Trump double down on his tariffs before he realizes everyday Americans are fed up? Trump owes every American a check for the thousands of dollars they had to shell out for his unhinged trade war."

A report found that Americans have shouldered 95% of the costs of Trump's tariffs, including an additional $1,000. Americans increasingly disapprove of Trump's economy: A new poll found that about 65% of Americans disapprove of Trump's handling of inflation and tariffs, and more than 6-in-10 Americans say that Trump is using the presidency to enrich himself.
