Allegheny College was once again included in The Princeton Review's "The Best 392 Colleges: 2027 Edition," also earning the "Most Accessible Professors" and "Best Mid-Atlantic" school distinctions. The placements reinforce Allegheny's status as one of the nation's premier undergraduate liberal arts institutions.
Allegheny has repeatedly appeared in The Princeton Review's annual "The Best Colleges" publication since it was launched in 2004, according to Jennifer Winge, vice president for enrollment management. The 2027 edition includes 392 Colleges throughout the United States - only about 14% of America's nearly 2,800 four-year colleges.
"Our most consistent feedback from Allegheny College alumni is that our faculty not only supported them academically, but became research mentors, career advisors, and lifelong friends." Winge said. "We already knew our faculty were some of the nation's best, and we're thrilled to have them receive the recognition they deserve. Allegheny's cutting-edge education and premier scholarship programs are driven by one primary charge: preparing students to thrive in an ever-changing world. Our continuous inclusions in 'The Best Colleges' is an annual reminder that our mission is more pertinent than ever."
Each year, The Princeton Review collects survey data from 2,000 college administrators about their institutions' academic offerings as well as from students attending the schools to inform their lists. Surveys from 172,000 students - about 439 per school on average - were tallied for this year's edition.
Alongside its inclusion in "The Best 392 Colleges," Allegheny broke the top 20 of The Princeton Review's "Most Accessible Professors" category. The publication's summary of Allegheny also shows near-perfect scores for three of its rating criteria: "Financial Aid," "Professors Interesting," and "Professors Accessible."
Allegheny has previously been recognized as "Best Value College" and a "Top 20 School for Making an Impact." The 2027 editions of those ranking lists are expected to be announced next month.
"The colleges we profile in 'The Best 392 Colleges' vary by type, size, locale, and campus culture," said Rob Franek, lead author of the book and Editor-in-Chief at The Princeton Review. "In our opinion, each one offers an academically outstanding undergraduate education."
