State Elected Leadership Joins Michigan National Guard for Tour of Lapeer Armory

LANSING, Mich. - Michigan National Guard (MING) officials, joined by State Rep. Phil Green, recently visited the Michigan Army National Guard (MIARNG) Lapeer Armory, located at 2140 W. Genesee St. in Lapeer, to review a newly completed $8.8 million renovation project. The upgrades were funded through a combination of $6.0 million in federal funding and $2.8 million in state funding.

The Lapeer Armory has undergone several construction projects over the past few years, completed in multiple phases. The most recent effort, Phase 3, delivered significant improvements designed to enhance readiness, functionality and quality of life for Soldiers. These upgrades include:

  • A new addition providing expanded space for full-time staff, recruiting operations and classrooms for Soldiers
  • A new force protection wall with improved ingress and egress
  • A new vehicle storage building
  • Upgraded drainage systems and expanded parking
  • New shower facilities
  • A new lactation room to support Soldiers who are starting or growing their families

One of 33 Michigan National Guard facilities targeted for modernization statewide, the Lapeer Armory renovations reflect a continued investment in infrastructure improvements that better support Soldiers of the MIARNG.

Guests at the visit included State Rep. Phil Green, Soldiers from the 210th Military Police Battalion and members of the MIARNG Recruiting and Retention Battalion.
