The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Maria Tripodi, acting on behalf of Minister Tajani, took part in the G7+ meeting in Gdańsk on support for Ukraine's energy resilience and in the Ukraine Recovery Conference ministerial meeting.
These meetings provided an opportunity to take stock of the coordination of international assistance for Kyiv, with a particular focus on support for the Ukrainian budget for the 2026-2027 period, the country's reconstruction and economic recovery, the implementation of reforms and the strengthening of private investment. The Donor Platform, established by the G7 in 2022, brings together partner countries and international financial institutions that account for over 98% of the international economic assistance provided to Ukraine.
"Italy continues to be at the forefront of support for Ukraine and its path to recovery and reconstruction," said Undersecretary Tripodi. Italian civilian aid involves activities in the fields of health, emergency response and mine clearance.
During the meeting on energy resilience, the Undersecretary then reaffirmed Italy's commitment to supporting the Ukrainian energy sector: Italy has been a member of the G7+ Coordination Group on energy resilience since its inception, a mechanism that has played a key role in coordinating the international response to the repeated attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Among the most recent initiatives is the package of measures to support Ukraine for the winter of 2025.2026. Particular attention has also been paid to supporting the nuclear sector and repairing the New Safe Confinement at Chernobyl, which was built with a decisive contribution from Italian industry and was severely damaged by a Russian drone attack in February 2025.
To mark these two events, the Embassy of Italy organised a meeting with the large business delegation and representatives of the 'Sistema Paese' - SACE, SIMEST, CDP and Confindustria - during which Undersecretary Tripodi addressed the gathering.
