The President congratulated Georgia on Independence Day

President Gitanas Nausėda extended his congratulations to Georgia and its people on the occasion of the country's Independence Day, on behalf of himself and the people of Lithuania.

According to the President, this day serves as a reminder of the Georgian nation's unwavering determination and courage on its path to freedom. He reaffirmed that Lithuania will always support Georgia's freedom, sovereignty, and independence, as well as its aspiration to join the European Union.

"We firmly support your pursuit of a European future, grounded in the principles of democracy and human rights that are essential for every country aspiring to join the European Union. Today, more than ever, we see the Georgian people's unwavering determination to continue along the path of Europe, democracy, and freedom. Georgian society is the solid foundation of the country's democracy," the President stated.

Gitanas Nausėda reiterated that Lithuania does not recognize the occupation of Georgia's Tskhinvali region and Abkhazia, which resulted from Russia's illegal military aggression in 2008, and continues to support Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
