Explore Innovation with Spark! Exhibition at Legacy Plaza

The City of Newton, in partnership with the Historic Preservation Commission, is proud to host Spark! Places of Innovation, a Smithsonian Museum on Main Street exhibition, from December 30, 2024, through January 30, 2025, at Legacy Plaza (403 W 4th St N, Newton, IA). This vibrant exhibit celebrates the inventive spirit of small towns like Newton and showcases how rural communities have overcome challenges and created groundbreaking products that have transformed their communities-and sometimes the world.

The exhibit features stories from over 30 rural communities nationwide, illustrating the unique relationship between place and creativity. Visitors will experience the power of ingenuity through engaging visuals, personal narratives, and hands-on elements that highlight the technical, social, cultural, and artistic innovations rooted in rural America.
