From Abortion to Health Care, GOP Gov Candidates Are Racing to the Right

At a gathering of Maine's GOP gubernatorial candidates over the weekend, Bobby Charles pledged to roll back reproductive freedoms in Maine. Charles bragged about how he is "unapologetically pro-life," promised to enact a dangerous abortion ban in Maine, and said that if he is elected "there will be no taxpayer funded abortions."

It's just the latest example of the Republican gubernatorial candidates' race to the right on issue after issue - from health care to reproductive freedom. At a debate last month, the candidates voiced their supportfor plans to rip away reproductive care from women across the state and push an abortion ban that is out-of-step with the majority of Mainers.
