Man Indicted by Federal Grand Jury for Sexual Abuse of a Ward While Under His Authority

MINNEAPOLIS - United States Attorney Daniel N. Rosen announced that Albert Victor Freeman, 30, was indicted by a federal grand jury on three counts of sexual abuse of a ward. Freeman had his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Elizabeth Cowan Wright on October 7, 2026.

According to the indictment, in or about June 2026, Freeman, a former federal correctional officer at Federal Correctional Institution (FCI)-Waseca, knowingly engaged or attempted to engage in sexual acts with three inmates he was responsible for guarding.

This case was the result of an investigation by the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General.

Assistant United States Attorney Evan Gilead is prosecuting the case.

An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
