On November 11, 2024, State Police members were informed of a fire and possible dog neglect complaint that occurred at a business, No Dogs Left Behind, formerly Maple Ridge Kennels, located on State Route 68 in the town of Canton, killing multiple dogs. The St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Department responded to the fire incident, along with the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, which handled the investigation. The State Police is actively investigating the possible dog neglect case, which is ongoing, but have no further information regarding the fire investigation.
