Finding Balance as a Mother and OD in the National Vision Network

Ngoc Thu Nguyen, OD, discovered her passion for optometry during college, drawn to the balance it offered between clinical care and family life. After graduating from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, she gained experience in multiple practice settings across Virginia, Texas and Ohio, all while navigating major life changes including becoming a mom.

Today, she serves as a full-time float optometrist within the National Vision Doctor of Optometry network, working across several America's Best locations near her home in Texas. The variety keeps her work engaging, while the flexibility supports the rhythm of family life.

Dr. Nguyen also contributes as an Ambassador for the National Vision network, mentoring OD students and sharing real-world insights to help them make informed career decisions. She encourages new grads to explore opportunities in the network and take advantage of benefits like student loan repayment support.

Dr. Nguyen takes pride in aligning her career with a company committed to improving access to eye care both in the U.S. and abroad. With supportive colleagues, responsive leadership and shared values, she sees herself staying in the network long term.
