York Hospital Pulmonologist Dr. Thomas Meehan to Present Lunch and Learn on Oct. 21

York Hospital's newest pulmonary specialist, Dr. Thomas Meehan, will present "How Much Do You Know About Lung Health?" on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, from noon to 1 p.m. at the York Public Library, 15 Long Sands Road in York. This free lunch-and-learn will offer community members a chance to learn more about lung health, recognize potential concerns, and explore ways to breathe easier. Anyone interested in attending should register in advance via Eventbrite.

Lung cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women in the United States. Attendees will learn who is at higher risk, the screening protocol for high-risk patients, and what happens after a screening. Dr. Meehan will discuss York Hospital's lung nodule program and access to advanced bronchoscopy procedures. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the importance of a multidisciplinary care team that includes medical and radiation oncologists, radiologists, surgeons, and hospice care professionals.

About the Presenter

Dr. Meehan earned his bachelor's degree from Colby College and his medical degree from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. He completed his internal medicine residency and chief residency in patient safety and quality improvement at the University of Minnesota Medical School, followed by a pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Boston University, and a research fellowship in quality improvement at Dartmouth.
