Rebecca Frank to join Lawrence as new director of Mudd Library

Rebecca (Becky) Frank, an accomplished library sciences professional, has been named the new director of Lawrence University's Seeley G. Mudd Library. She begins her duties June 2, overseeing a library that is often viewed as the heart of the campus.

Rebecca (Becky) Frank

Frank comes to Lawrence from Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, Tennessee, where she has served as director of library services and learning resources since 2020. She previously worked for nine years as a library administrator at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois.

Frank called it an honor to join Lawrence's talented team in the Mudd Library.

"I was drawn to this position by the university's strong sense of community and its deep commitment to student-centered learning," she said. "I'm excited to build on the library's strong foundation and to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to help it continue to grow as a vibrant hub of learning, exploration, and connection."

Frank holds a Master of Education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Library and Information Studies from Dominican University, and a bachelor's degree in secondary education from Judson University.

Peter Blitstein, provost and dean of faculty, said Frank is positioned to move the library forward.

"Becky impressed us with her thoughtfulness, her leadership philosophy, and her understanding of library trends and values," he said. "I'm delighted to welcome her to Lawrence."

Blitstein also thanked Gretchen Revie, associate director of the library, for serving as acting director of the Mudd for the past three years.

"Her steady, experienced leadership has been critical," Blitstein said.
