Sheriff's Office takes part in Operation Safe Stop

Yesterday, April 24, 2025, our agency took part in Operation Safe Stop, a special statewide initiative that focuses on promoting school bus safety through education and increased enforcement in an effort to protect kids as they travel to from school.

Deputies shadowed various bus routes throughout Washington County watching for drivers who fail to stop for school busses with flashing red lights. Unfortunately, there were citations issued to motorists who ignored these signals.

It only takes one mistake for a tragedy to happen, and we will continue to take part in these initiatives.
