WHAT: The West Virginia University Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering will host the Mountaineer VEX Robotics Competition for the fourth year in a row.
VEX draws student teams from across West Virginia to design and build a robot and compete in an elimination-style skills match. Winning teams will have the opportunity to advance to the VEX Robotics State Championship in Fairmont from March 8-9.
WHO: Over 55 middle and high school teams
WHEN: Jan. 10-11
• Saturday, Jan. 10: High school competition, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Sunday, Jan. 11: Middle school competition, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
WHERE: WVU Mountainlair, Gold and Blue Ballroom, 1550 University Ave., Morgantown
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Below is the tentative agenda for middle and high school competitions.
8 a.m. - Doors open, inspection begins.
9 a.m. - Qualification matches, judging begins.
Noon - Lunch
1 p.m. - Qualification matches resume.
3 p.m. - Alliance selection.
3:15 p.m. - Elimination tournament begins.
4 p.m. - Closing ceremony and awards.
