Our Discourse team, led by executive editor Zak Jason and focused on agenda-setting topical features, is expanding.
Arielle Pardes is joining us as a senior correspondent based in San Francisco. Arielle has written several deeply reported, rollicking features this year for Business Insider as a freelancer, including on the IPO wealth boom in San Francisco, on tech's peptides craze, and on Elizabeth Holmes's baffling X feed.
Previously, Arielle was a senior writer at Wired and The Information and the host of the award-winning podcast series "Backfired." She comes on board to cover the money, power, and ideology of Silicon Valley. Arielle plans to work closely with our tech team and will report to Zak.
Bartie Scott is joining Zak and Bob Bryan as a Discourse editor. A six-year veteran of Business Insider, Bartie has successfully led our crackerjack Economy team, including major packages such as Retirement Regrets and 80 Over 80. She will also bring her expertise and experience crafting fast features, such as how it really went down with the Claude Code leak, and internal dustups at Salesforce. She will continue to work with reporters across the newsroom on fast and longer features.
And we're thrilled to share that Mike Miller will be staying on as a contributing Discourse editor through the end of the year. A 40+ year WSJ veteran and teacher and journalist extraordinaire, Mike has had a huge influence on our newsroom these past few months across featuring editing, 1:1 chats, and room-packed group trainings.
