GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. The Wounded Warrior Regiment's (WWR) Warrior
Athlete Reconditioning Program (WAR-P) provides adaptive sports
activities to Recovering Service Members (RSMs) commensurate with
their physical and psychological capabilities in order to enhance
individual recovery and enable RSMs to develop life-long healthy
habits to improve their quality of life.
2. The purpose of this MARADMIN is to solicit WWR external
applicants for the 2026 Marine Corps & Air Force Trials (MCAFT).
3. As part of the recovery process, WWR sponsors the annual MCAFT,
an 11-sport athletic competition for Wounded, Ill, and Injured (WII)
active-duty, veterans, and international partners.
4. The 2026 MCAFT will be held aboard Camp Pendelton, CA, from
22 February to 3 March 2026. The MCAFT serves as the primary
selection venue for the annual Department of War Warrior Games
(DOWWG).
a. The MCAFT consists of WII active, and veteran athletes who
have served with Marine units. Veterans must be less than five years
post their date of separation from the start of the DOWWG
12 June 2026. Eligible participants include, but are not limited
to, RSMs recovering from or adapting to medical impairments such as
amputation, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury,
post-traumatic stress, mental health, visual impairment, or cancer.
Injuries do not have to be combat related.
b. RSMs must have trained in the sports they choose to register
in and be medically cleared to participate in prior to arrival at
the MCAFT. The MCAFT is a competitive environment and is reserved
for those athletes who have experience in their sport.
c. RSMs transitioning to civilian status and with end of active
service dates set within six weeks of the execution of the MCAFT
will not be allowed to participate unless cleared through Battalion
transition staff and command.
d. RSMs that anticipate participation in an internship or
transition related events (job interviews, house hunting, etc.)
during the 2026 MCAFT will not be allowed to participate.
e. The following sports competitions will be offered at the
2026 MCAFT: shooting (air rifle and pistol), swimming, cycling,
powerlifting, indoor rowing, archery, track, field, wheelchair
basketball, sitting volleyball, and wheelchair rugby.
f. RSMs shall select, at a minimum, three sports to compete in,
not to include team sports (wheelchair basketball, sitting
volleyball, and wheelchair rugby).
5. RSMs with questions or interested in participating shall email
the below documentation to [email protected] no later than 9
January 2026.

b. Command endorsement stating the Marine or Sailor is
participating and will be made available to attend.
c. Current medical questionnaire.
6. Participation requests will be screened and those invited to
attend will be notified NLT 23 January 2026.
7. All active-duty Marines selected by WWR WAR-P and approved by
their parent command to attend will travel on Permissive Temporary
Assigned Duty orders that are generated by their parent command.
Dates of travel are 22 February 2026 - 3 March 2026 to Camp
Pendleton, CA. Government lodging and meals are directed.
Billeting in Americans with Disability Act compliant rooms will
be arranged by WWR for those who require it.
