AUGUSTA, Ga. | Georgia College & State University baseball infielder Braeden Smith has been named the Player of the Week by the Peach Belt Conference.
The sophomore first baseman from Statham, Georgia, hit .667 (10-of-15) with a 1.200 slugging percentage in four games last week with two home runs and 11 RBI. Smith hit .636 in a three-game sweep of the University of South Carolina-Aiken with a home run and seven RBI. He also scored 10 runs and had a .750 on-base percentage for the week.
Smith went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBI midweek against Southern Wesleyan University. He doubled and drove in two in the opener against the Pacers and went 2-for-3 in the finale against USC Aiken with a home run and four RBI.
Smith leads the Peach Belt in batting average (.415), slugging percentage (.725), on-base percentage (.538) and OPS (1.263). He is second in doubles (14), third in RBI (54) and home runs (10), and fourth in runs scored (50).
The Bobcats, who are on a seven-game winning streak, returns to action with a 5 p.m. non-conference game against Erskine College Tuesday (April 8) at John Kurtz Field.
