Linn County Names New Chair and Vice Chair
The Linn County Board of Supervisors today named Supervisor Kirsten Running-Marquardt as Chair and Supervisor Sami Scheetz as Vice Chair for 2026.
Supervisor Running-Marquardt represents District 1. She was elected to the Board of Supervisors during the November 2022 election. District 1 represents the Westside of Cedar Rapids, the cities of Ely, Fairfax, and part of Walford, the village of Western, and unincorporated areas in southern Linn County.
"As we start 2026, I'm proud of the strong team we have working for Linn County," said Linn County Supervisor Chair Kirsten Running-Marquardt. "We have a busy year ahead with important decisions on fair and responsible budgets, policies, and projects, and through it all our top priority will remain protecting the quality of life for the people who call Linn County home."
Supervisor Scheetz represents District 2. He was appointed to the Board of Supervisors in April 2025 to fill the vacant District 2 seat. District 2 includes NE and SE Cedar Rapids and Hiawatha.
