As the General Plan Sonoma update moves from community visioning into policy development, Sonoma County will engage with diverse stakeholders through an extensive range of outreach activities. Community-based organizations (CBOs) play a distinct role in that effort because they help the County break down barriers to participation and help ensure all voices help shape the plan.
The County is now inviting nominations of CBOs to formally partner in this effort and is looking to hear from anyone who wants to participate or recommend an organization. Fill out the recommendation form to provide a referral for organizations that serve:
The County anticipates formally partnering with 5 to 7 organizations, with stipends available to support their participation. Submitting a recommendation does not guarantee selection or commit an organization to participating - it simply lets the County know an organization may be interested so staff can follow up on fit and capacity.
Please submit recommendations by August 14, 2026. It takes about 3-5 minutes and asks about the communities served, experience with community engagement, and language capacity. This CBO partnership is one part of a much broader engagement effort. Not everyone who is interested will be a formal partner, but General Plan Sonoma offers many other ways to get involved.
