Chinese engineering peacekeepers pass UN environmental and occupational safety and health inspection

The inspection team conducts an on-site inspection of the 16th Chinese Peacekeeping Horizontal Engineering Company to UNMISS.

WAU, South Sudan, May 13 -- The 16th Chinese Peacekeeping Horizontal Engineering Company to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) passed the UN environmental and occupational safety and health inspection with high standards.

This special inspection focused on key sites including kitchens, dining halls, shower rooms, restrooms, repair workshops, sewage treatment stations, garbage sorting points, and collection points for waste oil and metals. It comprehensively assessed the classified storage and disposal measures for recyclables, kitchen waste, hazardous waste, and other waste, as well as the environmental sanitation of the camp.

After the inspection, the inspection team members conducted a specialized training and exchange session with the Chinese peacekeepers. They delivered lectures on topics including environmental management regulations in the mission area, hazardous waste disposal procedures, and key points of occupational health protection, thereby further enhancing the personnel's capabilities in environmental control and safety protection.
