Airport Road Construction Update for the Week of March 16

The City of Santa Fe Public Works Department's Complete Streets Division continues Phase One roadway improvements on Airport Road between Cerrillos Road and NM 599.

This Week's Work

Construction at the South Meadows Road and Airport Road intersection will continue on the southbound lane. Traffic can expect lane shifts. Through traffic on both the northbound and southbound lanes of South Meadows Road will remain open

Construction continues at the Airport Road and Zepol Road intersection. Traffic can expect lane shifts. Both north and south access onto Zepol Road will remain open.

Construction at 4220 Airport Road will require an outside lane closure. Traffic can expect lane shifts.

Concrete work will take place on both the north and south sides of Airport Road from Cerrillos Road to Country Club Road. Work will be completed segment by segment.

Asphalt work continues on both the north and south sides of Airport Road outside lanes from Cerrillos Road to Country Club Road.

Each construction segment is expected to take approximately three to six days to complete, depending on weather and field conditions.

Phase One focuses on the segment from Cerrillos Road to Fairly Road and includes concrete and accessibility improvements, followed by asphalt work as weather conditions allow.

Construction is anticipated to continue through the end of May 2026.

Traffic Impacts

Traffic control will be set up before construction begins, weather permitting.

Lane closures on Airport Road include:

• Outside (rightmost) lane closures on both the north and south sides of Airport Road from Cerrillos Road to Country Club Road

• Right-turn lane closure from Cerrillos Road onto Airport Road (northbound)

• Right-turn lane closure from Cerrillos Road onto Airport Road (southbound)

• Intermittent lane closures at intersections for paving operations

• Outside lane closure at 4220 Airport Road, with traffic shifts

• Through lane closure at the Rodeo Road and Airport Road intersection onto Airport Road

Additional impacts include:

• Lane shifts at the South Meadows Road and Airport Road intersection; through traffic in both directions will remain open

• Lane shifts on Zepol Road; both north and south access will remain open

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and allow extra travel time when traveling through the area.

Sidewalk, curb, and gutter improvements are taking place at 4327 Airport Road in front of the Vista Alegra Apartments.

Construction is scheduled from March 4 through March 10, 2026, weather and field conditions permitting. Traffic control will be in place during construction. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes when possible and allow extra travel time when traveling through the area.

The City will continue providing weekly updates and additional notices as work progresses.
