The city of Elgin is nearing completion of its clean-up and restoration efforts at the site known as Tent City, with work expected to be finished by the end of the month, weather permitting.
All structures at the site have been removed, and approximately 284 tons of debris have been cleared. As part of the ongoing restoration, about 2,500 feet of fencing has been installed to secure the property and deter unauthorized access in the future.
Before the final phase of the project begins, a comprehensive inspection will be conducted to ensure that the area is completely free of debris. Following this inspection, crews will begin seeding the property to complete the restoration process.
