Mount Clemens, MI - Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Byron Walker, a 25-year-old Clinton Township man, was arraigned on a charge of failing to pay child support after allegedly accruing an arrearage of over $6,000.
On April 7, 2023, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Teri Lynn Dennings ordered Walker to pay child support. It is alleged that Walker owes back child support in the amount of $6,041.33. He has had one Show Cause Hearing.
After exhausting all enforcement options and determining Walker has the ability to pay, the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office charged Walker with failure to pay child support, a felony, which carries a potential penalty of up to four (4) years in prison. This is the maximum charge available under the law based on the evidence to date.
On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Walker was arraigned in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township before Magistrate Ryan Zemke, who set bond at $1,510.00, cash only. A Probable Cause Conference is set for Monday, September 15, 2025 at 1:00 pm before 41B District Court Judge Carrie Fuca.
"Child Support Awareness Month is a time to reaffirm our shared responsibility to the children of Michigan. Child support is not optional, it is a fundamental duty that ensures a child's basic needs are met and their future is protected.
"We will continue to take decisive action against those who neglect their obligations. This is not only about enforcing the law, it is about standing up for the well-being of children and holding accountable those who fail to meet their responsibilities," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
The Family Division of the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office oversees felony nonsupport cases where arrears exceed $5,000, payments have not been made for three consecutive months, and there is evidence that the noncustodial parent has the financial means to pay. The division's primary goal is to secure financial support for children while ensuring that justice is served.
