Micron School of Materials Science and Engineering welcomes new academic program administrator

The Micron School of Materials Science and Engineering proudly welcomes Sophie Stokes as academic program administrator.

In this role, Stokes will work closely with the school's director, Eric Jankowski, department leadership and committees to support students through curricula and community connections. Primary focuses include leading efforts in academic program compliance and managing university and ABET accreditation. Additionally, she will coordinate recruiting and graduate admissions processes while supporting students through mentorship and advising to ensure student success.

Stokes brings a decade of experience to the role, having taught English language arts, coached new educators and managed statewide programs related to postsecondary readiness with the Idaho Department of Education, where she provided training and support to educators to ensure program compliance and accountability. While with Teach for America, she led cross-functional teams to successfully implement statewide college and career readiness initiatives and developed comprehensive professional development programs for educators, focusing on mentorship and program compliance.

"Beyond her broad experience, Sophie established enthusiastic rapport with our students, staff and faculty that will contribute to the student experience across all of our programs. We're excited to include Sophie's ideas and perspectives as we iterate on curricula, connect with industry and improve processes across the college."

Sophie earned her bachelor's degree in English from Ohio State University in 2015 and completed her Master of Teaching at Boise State University in 2017. Above all, she aims to contribute to a program where people feel supported, connected and able to do their best work together.
