Prime Minister Edi Rama to Undertake an Official Visit to Tokyo, Japan.

Prime Minister Edi Rama will pay an official visit to Tokyo, Japan, from 21 to 23 May 2026, with the aim of further strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

During his stay in Tokyo, Prime Minister Edi Rama will hold a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Japan, Sanae Takaichi, as well as a courtesy call with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Eisuke Mori.

As part of the visit, Prime Minister Edi Rama will also visit the United Nations University in Tokyo, where he will address participants at a panel discussion entitled "Albania's Path Towards EU Membership: The Role of Japan". Prime Minister Rama will present Albania's path towards EU membership in 2030 and highlight the importance of the strategic partnership with a likeminded country as Japan, in a world where common defense of our common valuese has become existential.

The agenda of the visit also includes a meeting with members of the Japan-Albania Parliamentary Friendship League and a meeting with the senior executives of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

Prime Minister Edi Rama will also participate in a roundtable discussion with the leadership of Japan Bussines Federation (KEIDANREN) and representatives of business community, aimed at showcasing Albania's economic potential and encouraging Japanese investment in the country.
