Chinese Consul General in Johannesburg Pan Qingjiang Attends the 2026 Chinese New Year Reception

On February 9, the Chinese Consulate General in Johannesburg hosted the 2026 Chinese New Year Reception.Consul General Mr. Pan Qingjiang, Speaker of Gauteng Provincial Legislature Ms. Morakane Mosupyoe, and MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation Ms.NtombizaneleSifuba representing Premier of Free State attended and delivered speeches. Approximately 300 guests joined the celebration, including government officials, business leaders, academia, media, members of overseas Chinese communities and institutions, and consular corps.

Consul General Pan extended New Year greetings and introduced the Spring Festival culture and its great significance. He reviewed the achievements of China's modernization and diplomacy, and the outcomes of the development of China-South Africa relations and sub-national exchanges over the past year, and expressed his hope that both sides will seize opportunities and work together in the new year for a new chapter in bilateral cooperation and friendship at all levels.

During the reception,the participants enjoyed Chinese culture and innovation experiences, videos on China's development and China-South Africa cooperation, and cultural performances with distinctive Chinese and South African characteristics. The event was filled with a joyful and warm atmosphere. The Guests expressed their best wishes for and strong confidence in China's bright future and China-South Africa friendly cooperation in the new era.
