The City of Watsonville is proud to announce the appointment of David Brletic as its new Community Development Director. Brletic officially began his role today, bringing more than 30 years of public service experience in planning and economic development.
Brletic began his career in 1995 as a Planning Administrative Assistant and Recycling Coordinator. Over the years, he has held various positions, including Assistant Planner, Associate Planner, Senior Planner, City Planner, and Community Development Director. His career also includes several years of service as a Contract Planner for multiple small cities in Fresno, Tulare, and Kern Counties, demonstrating a strong commitment to helping communities of all sizes grow and thrive.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the City of Watsonville, and I look forward to meeting the community," said Brletic. "I will work to guide and support our Community Development Department staff to continue to provide the best service possible and am committed to maintaining and improving the quality of life for all citizens of Watsonville."
City Manager Tamara Vides appointed Brletic to the role and welcomed him to the team, noting that his extensive experience in planning and leadership will be a valuable asset as Watsonville continues to pursue thoughtful growth and community-centered development.
Brletic joins a strong team that includes Assistant Directors Justin Meek and Matt Orbach. Together, they will continue to lead the department with a shared commitment to advancing key initiatives in development, building, and long-range planning in our community.
The City of Watsonville looks forward to working with David Brletic as he leads the Community Development Department into the future.
