New Bill Payment System Takes Effect Dec. 1

We're excited to announce that the City of DeKalb is transitioning to a new, improved payment system for bill payments - including utility bills - powered by BS&A. This change offers a more user-friendly experience, continuation of popular online payment options and new in-person payment devices, including Apple Pay and Google Pay.

All of the options for paying City bills will remain in place. Here's what you need to know for each payment option:

• Online Accounts & Auto Pay

Before Dec. 1: Continue to use the existing system.

Beginning Dec. 1: Begin using the new payment system by visiting our payment portal at cityofdekalb.com/137/online-payments. Customers enrolled online in autopay must re-register their account and payment information between Dec 1, 2025 & Dec. 12, 2025. Please do not update your account information until Dec. 1. Any updates made before this time will not carry over to the new system.

You will still be able to make one-time payments with an e-check or debit/credit card without needing to create an account.

Beginning Dec. 1: Use the new number - 815-745-5509 - to make one-time payments through a quick, automated system.

In-Person Payments

Visit the main lobby of City Hall at 164 E. Lincoln Highway.

You will still be able to make payment by mail or drop box.

• Customers who have submitted an authorization form and voided check to the City do not need to update their account information.

Landlords & Property Managers: The new online system will also be used by tenants making payments. Please share this information with your tenants.

Processing: With the transition to the new payment system, the convenience fee for using a debit/credit card will be adjusted to 2.8% + $0.50 for all payment amounts. The fee for online payments using a bank account is $1.95 for all transactions. Customers who have submitted an authorization form and voided check will continue to pay no fee. Additionally, there continues to be no fee for payments by check or cash.
