The Electoral Observation Mission (EOM) of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Peru, headed by Víctor Rico Frontaura, has begun its final deployment in preparation for the General Elections to be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
For this electoral process, the OAS/EOM has assembled a technical team composed of more than 90 observers and specialists from 22 countries. As part of its direct field observation agenda, the Mission will hold working meetings with government authorities, electoral authorities at the national and departmental levels, candidates, and representatives of civil society, the international community, and other stakeholders, with the aim of gathering a range of perspectives on the conduct of the elections.
In this context, the Mission's team of specialists will carry out a thorough and comprehensive analysis of key aspects of the Peruvian electoral process in areas such as electoral organization, electoral technology, electoral justice, political-electoral financing, women's political participation, the political participation of Indigenous Peoples and Afro-descendants, campaigns, media and digital communication, electoral violence, among others.
Once voting has concluded, the OAS/EOM will present a preliminary report outlining its findings and recommendations aimed at continuing to strengthen the electoral process.
This Mission is the twenty-fourth (24th) that the OAS has deployed in Peru. The work and deployment of this team are made possible thanks to the financial contributions of the governments of Brazil, Canada, Spain, the United States, France, Italy, and Switzerland.
