Senop is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by French Armament General Directorate (DGA - Direction générale de l'armement) for the procurement of Senop's advanced fire control system, the Senop AFCD TI. The contract marks a significant achievement in the cooperation between Senop, DGA and Saab Ground Combat Unit.
The acquisition of the AFCD TI is the culmination of a multi-year development and evaluation process during which Senop collaborated closely with French Armament General Directorate (DGA - Direction générale de l'armement) and Saab Ground Combat Unit. Throughout the project, Senop conducted testing, customization of the solution and validation activities to ensure full compliance with the technical requirements. As a result, DGA has chosen the most technically advanced and capable solution for their operational needs.
"This contract represents an important recognition of the successful implementation of an international expansion strategy and our longstanding commitment to delivering dependable and technically advanced capabilities," states Aki Korhonen, President of Senop Oy. "We are honoured by the confidence that DGA has placed in our company, and we look forward to beginning deliveries and further strengthening our cooperation in the years ahead", Korhonen says.
Realisation of the contract will commence during 2026, with Senop fully committed to maintaining the highest level of quality throughout production and deployment. Senop will also provide training, maintenance support, and lifecycle services to ensure sustained operational readiness for the French Armed Forces.
The Senop AFCD TI is an intelligent smart sight designed for Saabs shoulder-firing systems, used around the world. The AFCD Thermal Imager weapon sight is a fully digital, next-generation fire control solution that doubles effective engagement range in all conditions - day or night - compared to traditional sighting systems. It is the only sight qualified for the Carl-Gustaf® M3 and M4 weapon systems integrating thermal, day, and fusion channels with a laser rangefinder, ballistic and lead calculation within one system. Compact, lightweight, and easy to use, AFCD significantly improves the first-hit accuracy and sets a new standard for modern combat effectiveness. Designed and produced in Finland, the AFCD TI is a top-of-the-market solution, for everyone from conscripts to professional operators.
"Our R&D team has invested considerable effort in this programme. The system is tailored to meet the end-user specifications, and we are proud of this achievement. The system has gained maturity and now supports several different Saab´s weapon systems making it an excellent choice for users with several shoulder firing systems in use," Product Manager Lasse Elomaa elaborates.
Senop remains committed to supporting its partners globally with advanced defence solutions and long-term industrial reliability. Due to the contract restrictions and current environment, further details of the contract remain undisclosed.
