The Office of Public Affairs held a briefing for policymakers and Congressional staff to hear from patient advocates and providers about the importance of access to IVF and the importance of not seeking to replace it with restorative reproductive medicine (RRM) requirements. The 2025 PRIMED cohort came together in Washington, DC to meet with Congressional offices and advocate for IVF and educate about the politicization of RRM. ASRM's Office of Public Affairs teamed up with F&S Reports Editor-in-Chief Dr. Richard Paulson for a virtual town hall discussing RRM, why IVF access is important, and current advocacy and policy activities. ASRM President Dr. Elizabeth Ginsburg published an op-ed in The Hill discussing IVF as an essential tool in treating infertility and the politicization of RRM. Read her piece here. September was Medical Research Month! From labs to clinics to communities, medical research saves lives and drives innovation, and advocates across the country spoke up to make sure Congress knows it. ASRM members and staff attended and served as expert panelists at the Alliance for Fertility Preservation's National Policy Summit on September 11. ASRM's CPL attended SC RED's critical conversations dinner addressing maternal mortality and morbidity in the sickle cell community. ASRM launched the "Fighting for Our Future" campaign to provide much-needed funding to reproductive scientists, researchers, and labs in the wake of recent federal funding cuts.
