There's been a lot of news media interest in the I-17 wildlife overpass we're building a little south of Flagstaff. It's an important safety project made possible by a grant through the Federal Highway Administration's Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program.

For this week's episode of On the Road With ADOT, we invited Biology Program Manager Audrey Navarro to talk more about the overpass and its role not only in enhancing safety but habitat connectivity for elk and other wildlife. She also explains what biologists do for ADOT and how other projects completed in partnership with the Arizona Game and Fish Department have made drivers and wildlife safer.

With the I-17 wildlife overpass project getting underway, you can learn more about traffic restrictions and subscribe for updates at azdot.gov/Wildlife.

You can subscribe to episodes of On the Road with ADOT through Apple Podcasts and Spotify. You also can find episodes at azdot.gov/Podcast and featured in ADOT Blog posts.
