He was transported to the hospital by ambulance with a life threatening injury. No shots were fired by police.
There is evidence that the suspect fired at least one shot at the police, so Portland Police Homicide Unit Detectives responded to the scene to investigate.
During the investigation, Southeast 72nd Avenue is closed between Southeast Harney Street and Southeast Clatsop Street. Southeast Sherrett Street remains closed between Southeast 70th Avenue and Southeast 72nd Avenue.

The suspect is not being identified at this time. He remains in police custody at the hospital. His arrest warrant was out of Washington County. This was an attempt to arrest a criminal suspect with an arrest warrant and did not involve immigration enforcement.

Tactical Team Callout for Wanted Suspect who is Armed with a Gun
The Portland Police Special Emergency Reaction (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) are responding to a callout involving an armed, barricaded suspect in the Brentwood-Darlington Neighborhood. The suspect, who was located by U.S. Marshals, is believed to be in a garage in the 7100 block of Southeast Sherrett Street. Officers have surrounded the structure and contained the suspect. No injuries have been reported.
Southeast 72nd Avenue is closed between Southeast Clatsop Street and Southeast Harney Street. Southeast Harney Street is closed between Southeast 70th Avenue and Southeast 72nd Avenue. Community members in that area are being asked to stay inside with doors and windows locked as a precaution. "Shelter in place" notifications alerts are being sent out through Public Alerts.
A Public Information Officer is responding to the scene.
