ATLANTA - State Representative Lydia Glaize (D-Fairburn) was recently named one of the Champions for Change by the Georgia Commission on Women and awarded the Leadership Legacy Award for her career-long dedication to mentorship and community empowerment.
"It is an honor to be named as a Champion for Change by the Georgia Commission on Women," said Rep. Glaize. "I am grateful to the commission for selecting me as an honoree alongside other distinguished advocates and changemakers. I look forward to our continued work to identify and address issues affecting women across the state-it is our duty as legislators to seek out sound policy that improves the lives of Georgia's women and families."
The Georgia Commission on Women hosted its annual Champions for Change Day at the Georgia State Capitol on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. The event brought together lawmakers, community leaders and advocates to honor seven distinguished individuals whose work has impacted the lives of women and families across the state.
The Georgia Commission on Women is a non-partisan state agency that was created in 1992 by the Georgia General Assembly and Governor Zell Miller to monitor the status, rights and opportunities of women in Georgia. The commission's efforts are centered around three main pillars-human trafficking, maternal mortality and women's health-and they partner with other government agencies and organizations across the state to address these issues. Their overarching goal is to continue to advocate for a Georgia where women can thrive.
