This project contributes to improving rail capacity and connections at the Port of Constanța, the main port on the Black Sea in Romania. It focuses on Stage I, which modernises the Valu lui Traian marshalling yard, located about 15 km from the port. This area will serve as a waiting and organising point for freight trains travelling to and from the port.
The works include upgrading railway tracks and facilities, electrifying the lines, and installing a modern signalling system. These improvements will help trains move more smoothly and efficiently, reducing delays and congestion. In the long term, the project will support faster freight transport, strengthen the port's role in European trade, and benefit both civilian and defence transport needs.
