Washington, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02), House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (MD-08), and Congressman Ro Khanna (CA-17), author of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, announced a new inquiry regarding the controversial transfer of convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell to a minimum-security prison facility, often referred to as "Club Fed." In a letter to the Bureau of Prisons (BOP), the lawmakers are demanding complete information and all documents regarding Maxwell's transfer.<_o3a_p>

Last month, while Attorney General Pam Bondi testified before the House Judiciary Committee, she admitted to Congresswoman Ross for the first time that she did not authorize Maxwell's transfer and doesn't know who did. Attorney General Bondi's testimony revealed serious questions as to who authorized Maxwell's transfer given that she should be ineligible for transfer as a convicted sex offender. Any refusal or failure to turn over documents related to Ghislaine Maxwell's transfer is a direct violation of the Epstein Files Transparency Act (EFTA).<_o3a_p>

The lawmakers outlined that there must be recorded documents approving Maxwell's transfer, according to BOP policy:<_o3a_p>

They wrote, "There is no exception in the EFTA for documents related to the incarceration of Ms. Maxwell. And yet, in the 3.5 million documents produced so far, there does not appear to be a single record documenting her transfer or who authorized it. These documents exist: in fact, per BOP policy, Ms. Maxwell, as a sex offender, should never have been eligible for transfer to a minimum-security facility in the first place. To arrange such a transfer, BOP must have processed detailed paperwork justifying the extraordinary move out of her original prison facility to the camp."<_o3a_p>

The lawmakers emphasized that the American people and Epstein's survivors deserve answers about Maxwell's transfer:<_o3a_p>

"The victims of Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and their associates deserve full transparency in this matter," wrote the lawmakers. "The American people are entitled to know why Ghislaine Maxwell was transferred to a minimum-security facility, in apparently direct violation of existing BOP policy."<_o3a_p>
