Goodyear Police K9s: More Than Just Crime-Fighters

From one pup (Roscoe!) to five incredible K9 teams, the Goodyear Police Department's K9 Unit has come a long way.

Their mornings kick off with obedience drills before heading out on patrol-helping with everything from routine traffic stops to major cases. On their days off? These hardworking dogs chill in their kennels, saving all that energy for when the real action calls.

And they're not just skilled-they're stars! Our K9s take home trophies at the Desert Dog Trials and train weekly with nearby agencies to stay sharp and among the best in Arizona.

Outside of police work, the dogs are also pros at winning hearts. "There's a big misconception that they're mean and scary," said Officer Armstead. "Our dogs are friendly, and we love bringing them out to schools and events."

From chasing down crime to making new friends, Goodyear's K9s are always on duty to protect and connect.
