IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 10, 2026 Albuquerque, NM - A federal grand jury has indicted a Tijeras, New Mexico, man on a charge of fraudulent voting after he allegedly attempted to submit his deceased wife's absentee ballot in the 2024 general election. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, election officials intercepted the ballot before it could be counted. The case raises important questions about election integrity, accountability, and the safeguards needed to protect every lawful vote. RPNM releases the following statement: "We applaud the Justice Department for enforcing the law and taking election integrity seriously," said Interim Chair Mike Nelson. "It has been clear for years now that the Republican Party is the only party that cares about safeguarding our elections. It's a real shame that not a single New Mexico Democrat will speak out about this blatant attempt at election interference, despite calling themselves the party of 'democracy.'" ### |
