REMINDER: With Roe Overturned, Trump Is Ready to Implement an Anti-Choice Agenda Arrow

Today marks the 52nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, and women across America know that Donald Trump is the reason this day, which represented freedom for nearly half a century, is now a reminder of their rights being ripped away. Trump hand-picked Supreme Court justices to overturn the landmark decision that recognized women's essential and fundamental right to reproductive freedom - and brags about it. And as he arrived back in office, an anti-choice extremist Trump-appointed federal judge renewed attacks on mifepristone, the opening salvo in a new war against reproductive freedom.

With Trump back in the White House after overturning Roe v. Wade and ready to implement an extreme, anti-choice agenda, DNC Senior Spokesperson Hannah Muldavin released the following statement:

"Because of Donald Trump, women are dying due to the horrific abortion bans made possible by his hand-picked Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade. Trump has stripped away the fundamental right for women to make decisions about their own health care. We're already living in a world where daughters have fewer rights than their mothers and grandmothers - and Trump has hired MAGA extremists to implement an agenda that further chips away at those rights. During this time when extremists feel emboldened to implement dangerous anti-choice policies, Democrats will not stop fighting to restore Roe's protections."

Trump has repeatedly bragged about ending Roe v. Wade and has called the patchwork of restrictive and cruel abortion bans across the country "a beautiful thing to watch" - even though women have been hospitalized and even died as a result.

Trump: "After 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill Roe v. Wade, much to the 'shock' of everyone … Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to. Without me the pro Life movement would have just kept losing. Thank you President TRUMP!!!"

The Hill: "Former President Trump on Wednesday said it was 'a beautiful thing to watch' as individual states passed patchwork abortion laws, some more restrictive than others, and suggested it could unify the country even as Democrats use the issue to drive turnout in elections."

"Reproductive rights have been front and center politically in the two years since the conservative Supreme Court majority ended Roe v. Wade, with some states enshrining abortion rights and others enacting restrictive laws that effectively ban the procedure."

"'And it's taken it off the shoulders of the federal government … The people are deciding. And in many ways, it's a beautiful thing to watch.'"

Let's not forget that Trump backed a national abortion ban in his first term - and has floated signing one in his second term.

The Hill: "President Trump on Friday called on the Senate to pass a bill banning abortions after 20 weeks."

Trump: "There of course remains a vital role for the federal government in protecting unborn life. And it's very important."

With Roe overturned and Trump back in power, his MAGA extremist allies are plotting to implement his Project 2025 anti-choice agenda: banning medication abortion, threatening access to IVF, and even monitoring women's pregnancies and gaining access to private health data.

Axios: "The Heritage Foundation, which has proposed detailed policies for a potential GOP administration, argues that Comstock 'unambiguously prohibits mailing abortion drugs' and says the next administration should 'enforce federal law against providers and distributors of [abortion] pills.'"

The Atlantic: "Their next goal will be ending legal abortion in America once and for all. … Their ultimate aim in reviving the Comstock Act is to use it to shut down every abortion facility 'in all 50 states.'"

HuffPost: "Donald Trump Has Deep Ties To Anti-IVF Movement"

"Like many Republicans, Trump's words of support don't align with his past actions on IVF. The current Republican presidential nominee ― who has repeatedly bragged about his role in repealing federal abortion protections ― has deep ties to extreme right-wing organizations that actively oppose IVF.

Politico: "Anti-abortion advocates worked for five decades to topple Roe v. Wade. They're now laying the groundwork for a yearslong fight to curb in vitro fertilization."

Rolling Stone: "Trump and Vance Have Backed States That Want to Surveil Pregnant Women"

"Trump and his vice presidential pick are now both saying abortion should be left up to the states, even though they both previously signaled support for national bans. They have also, alarmingly, both suggested they would be OK with states moving to surveil women's pregnancies.

"In May, a host at WGAL, an NBC affiliate in Pennsylvania, noted to Trump that there were ads running that suggested he would support certain states with bans monitoring women's pregnancies. 'Well, that would be up to the states, again,' Trump responded."
