Empowering Communities: Denver's 2024 Climate Action Successes

Published on July 10, 2025

Denver's Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency (CASR) has released its 2024 Annual Report, detailing significant achievements in reducing carbon pollution, minimizing waste, and enhancing community resilience.

Denver is helping communities thrive as the city's climate gets hotter and drier. This work is made possible through the Climate Protection Fund. In 2024, CASR allocated more than 60% of the Climate Protection Fund dollars to communities that disproportionately experience the impacts of the climate change.

Key findings from the 2024 report include:

  • 539,261 tons of carbon pollution reduced through 2040 (equivalent to planting 8.9 million trees)
  • 1,000,000 car trips replaced with e-bike rides from Denver e-bike voucher recipients
  • 1,791 clean energy systems installed at Denver homes, businesses, and nonprofits
  • 290,000 pounds of plastic avoided through waste reduction programs
  • 24 million fewer plastic bags used compared to 2022
  • 31 small businesses cut energy use by 20% on average, unlocking $42,000 in energy incentives
  • 3,873 energy coaching sessions with Denver building owners fielded by the Energize Denver help desk
  • 918 adults and 544 youth trained in clean energy and natural resource management workforce programs.
