Boston (May 25, 2026) - Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) released the following statement commemorating Memorial Day.
"From the very first days of the American Revolution to today, the people of Massachusetts have been among the first in this nation to answer the call to serve. We honor and recognize those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and those Gold Star families who carry on that legacy of service in their name.
"On this Memorial Day, we also are reminded of the costs of war and military conflict-not raw power, but real families, communities, and loved ones who bear the full risk and responsibility. We honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight for our freedom, and we must redouble our commitment to those who return from war. Their healthcare, employment, housing, and education are the moral obligation we have as a nation to do as they do, which is to serve through actions."
