Critical Incidents Report for December 2025

In December, TMPA opened 22 case files for critical incidents Critical incidents are cases in which an officer's actions, conduct, or omissions resulted in the death or serious bodily injury of a person; or could have resulted in such harm as a result of the officer intentionally discharging his or her firearm. These critical incidents involved members from various agencies throughout the state including: Baytown Police Department, Bedford Police Department, Bexar County Constable Precinct 4, Brownsville Police Department, Cedar Hill Police Department, Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, Fort Worth Police Department, Grand Prairie Police Department, Jacksonville Police Department, Jarrell Police Department, Johnson County Sheriff's Office, Kermit Police Department, lake Worth Police Department, McKinney Police Department, Meadows Place Police Department, Mesquite Police Department, Montgomery County Constable Precinct 3, Slaton Police Department, Texas DPS, Weslaco Police Department, and include the following:


1. Member responded to an aggravated robbery in progress call. Upon arrival, member confronted two suspects, one of whom pointed a gun at member. Member discharged firearm, striking one of the suspects. Both were taken into custody with no injuries to officers. Attorney David Willis assisted member with statement.

2. Attorney Bob Gorsky assisted members who were involved in an in-custody death that resulted from a use of force incident several days prior.

3. Member responded to a shots fired call. Upon arrival, member exchanged gunfire with suspect. Suspect barricaded self in the residence and committed suicide. Attorney Kenneth Biggs responded to the scene to assist members with statements.

4. While serving an eviction notice, member and other officers were shot at by suspect. Attorney Chad Hyde assisted members with interviews and statements.

5. Attorney Marsha Todd assisted member who was involved in an auto/ped accident where the pedestrian intentionally jumped in front of member's patrol car and died.

6. When serving a search warrant, suspect committed suicide. Attorney Marsha Todd arrived on scene to assist members with statements.

7. Attorney Lance Wyatt assisted member who was involved in a pursuit fatality.

8. Member responded to a suicidal subject call. When member attempted to make contact with subject, subject pointed a handgun at member. Member discharged a round causing subject to drop the gun. Subject was not hit and was taken into custody. Attorney Marsha Todd assisted member with statement.

9. Members responded to a shots fired and family violence call. Upon arrival, suspect began firing at officers. Member discharged duty weapon, striking suspect, who was taken into custody with non-life-threatening injuries. Attorney Alex Guajardo assisted members with statements.

10.Attorney Randall Moore assisted member who was involved in a pursuit that ended with serious injuries.

11. Member was involved in the in-custody death of a combative suspect who was tased and became unresponsive. Suspect later died in hospital. Attorney Alex Guajardo assisted member with statement.

12. Attorney Paul Aman assisted member who was involved in the in-custody death of an intoxicated suspect.

13. Member engaged in a brief foot pursuit of a shoplifting suspect. Suspect began fighting with member and then went limp and stopped breathing. Attorney Bob Gorsky assisted member.

14. Members responded to a 911 call at a residence. Upon arrival, and after making entrance into the residence, a suspect wielding a knife ran towards members. Members discharged duty weapons stopping the threat. Attorney Chris Wanner assisted members with statements.

15.Eight other critical incidents involving an on-duty shooting (Attorneys who assisted include Marsha Todd, Lance Wyatt, Robert McCabe, Bob Gorsky, Randall Moore, Robert Rogers with Bob Gorsky's firm.)
