Applications open for Excellence in Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity graduation cords

Applications are now open for the EURECA (Excellence in Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity) graduation cord for the 2025-26 academic year, the Institute for Inclusive and Transformative Scholarship announced.

The EURECA cord recognizes Boise State students who have made a sustained commitment to developing as researchers or creative practitioners during their undergraduate studies. Recipients receive a certificate from the institute and an honor cord to wear at commencement.

Faculty, staff and academic advisors are encouraged to share this opportunity with graduating students and support them in applying.

What's new this year

  • Applications must now include verification from the student's faculty mentor(s). This change ensures that recognition comes directly from those who have worked most closely with the student and can best affirm the significance of their research or creative contributions.
  • Students will complete a brief reflection as part of the application.
  • Alumni may apply for the EURECA cord up to one year after graduation.

Deadlines

  • Fall 2025: Monday, Nov. 10, 2025
  • Spring 2026: Monday, March 30, 2026

Students who apply by these deadlines will be eligible to receive their cord before Commencement and may participate in the EURECA Recognition Ceremony for that semester. Approved applicants will be contacted by IFITS with instructions for cord pickup.
