City Attorney Wes Duncan Announces April’s Driving Under the Influence Convictions

The Sparks City Attorney's Office announces a few of the Driving Under the Influence convictions secured in the month of April. The following sentencing conditions were imposed by the Sparks Municipal Court in accordance with statutory sentencing guidelines:

On April 2, 2026, Steven Nye was found guilty on the charge of Driving Under the Influence, first offense and sentenced to 60 days suspended on the condition they complete a Substance abuse evaluation and follow the recommendations, the victim impact panel, 48 hours of community service, have the vehicle ignition interlock installed for 185 days, pay a fine in the amount of $600 plus administrative assessment fees, abstain from drugs and alcohol, and obey all laws. This conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred on November 27, 2025, in the vicinity of Nichols Blvd.

On April 6, 2026, Shelby Giles was found guilty on the charge of Driving Under the Influence, first offense and sentenced to 90 days suspended on the condition they complete a 12 weeks of Substance abuse counseling, the victim impact panel, 48 hours of community service, have the vehicle ignition interlock installed for 185 days, pay a fine in the amount of $400 plus administrative assessment fees, abstain from drugs and alcohol, and obey all laws. This conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred on October 15, 2025, in the vicinity of Vista Blvd.

On April 7, 2026, Bijan Behmard was found guilty on the charge of Driving under the Influence, first offense and sentenced to 120 days in the Washoe County Jail suspended on the condition they complete 2 active days in jail, pay a $400 fine plus administrative assessments; complete 8 hours of substance abuse counseling, attend the victim impact panel, abstain from drugs and alcohol, and obey all laws. This conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred on March 11, 2026, in the vicinity of Rock Blvd and Victorian Ave.

On April 9, 2026, Robert Lee Bradley III was found guilty on the charge of Driving Under the Influence, first offense and sentenced to 30 days suspended on the condition they complete 12 weeks of Substance abuse counseling, the victim impact panel, 48 hours of community service, have the vehicle ignition interlock installed for 185 days, and pay a fine in the amount of $400 plus administrative assessment fees. This conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred on June 14, 2025, in the vicinity of California Ave and Nixon Ave. Prosecuted by the Sparks City Attorney's Office due to a conflict with the Reno City Attorney's Office.

On April 9, 2026, Jason Guerrero-Stopani was found guilty on the charge of Driving Under the Influence, first offense and sentenced to 90 days suspended on the condition they complete 12 weeks of Substance abuse counseling, the victim impact panel, 48 hours of community service, have the vehicle ignition interlock installed for 185 days, pay a fine in the amount of $600 plus administrative assessment fees, abstain from drugs and alcohol, and obey all laws. This conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred on October 12, 2025, in the vicinity of 16th Street and C Street.

On April 9, 2026, Austin Rafieerad was found guilty on the charge of Driving Under the Influence, first offense and sentenced to 180 days suspended on the condition they complete, 52 weeks of substance abuse counseling, the victim impact panel, 48 hours of community service, have the vehicle ignition interlock installed for 185 days, pay a fine in the amount of $400 plus administrative assessment fees, comply with the court compliance track, pay restitution in the amount of $1,187.16, abstain from drugs and alcohol, and obey all laws. This conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred on December 13, 2025, in the vicinity of Vista Blvd at Prater Way.

On April 27, 2026, Christian Izquierdo was found guilty on the charge of Driving Under the Influence, first offense and Duty to Stop at Scene of an Accident and sentenced to 60 days suspended on the condition they complete 12 hours of Substance abuse counseling, the victim impact panel, 48 hours of community service, have the vehicle ignition interlock installed for 185 days, pay a fine in the amount of $400 plus administrative assessment fees, abstain from drugs and alcohol, and obey all laws. This conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred on October 31, 2025, in the vicinity of Sullivan Lane at Merchant Street.

On April 29, 2026, Jamie Velazquez was found guilty on the charge of Driving Under the Influence, second offense and sentenced to 180 days suspended on the condition they complete 6-12 months of Substance abuse counseling, the victim impact panel, serve 20 active days in the Washoe County Jail, have the vehicle ignition interlock installed for 1 year, pay a fine in the amount of $750 plus administrative assessment fees, abstain from drugs and alcohol, have no contact with the victim, and obey all laws. This conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred on November 29, 2025, in the vicinity of E. Victorian Ave.

On April 29, 2026, Marisela Romero was found guilty on the charge of Driving Under the Influence, first offense and sentenced to 30 days suspended on the condition they complete 8 hours of Substance abuse counseling, the victim impact panel, 2 days of active jail time, have the vehicle ignition interlock installed for 185 days, pay a fine in the amount of $400 plus administrative assessment fees, pay restitution in the amount of $6,799.69, abstain from drugs and alcohol, and obey all laws. This conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred on October 12, 2025, in the vicinity of 16th Street and C Street.
