Jai Panthail to Speak on Hazard Mapping for Post-Wildfire Debris Flows at FMA Conference

Jai Panthail will present "Large-Scale Pre-Fire Hazard Mapping for Post-Wildfire Debris Flows: A Case Study from Eastern Washington State" at the Floodplain Management Association (FMA) Conference on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. PT.

The event will take place September 8 through 10 in Long Beach, California. The theme of this year's conference is "Navigating Changing Tides: Maintaining Resilient Communities."

Jai is a Project Water Resources Engineer based in California with more than 10 years of experience in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, flood-risk analysis, channel scour mitigation analyses, Geographic Information System (GIS) and geospatial analysis, and programming and automation. He helps clients solve complex problems related to flood risk, water quality, watershed protection, water supply, and water infrastructure improvements.

The annual FMA Conference brings together floodplain managers, engineers, planners, scientists, technicians, and policymakers from California, Hawaii, Nevada, and beyond.

FMA advances flood safety, sustainable floodplain stewardship, and effective water resource management in the region and is an official chapter of the Association of State Floodplain Managers.
