Alert Police Work Leads to Arrest of Suspected Vehicle Burglar & Recovery of Four Guns

South Precinct officers early Thursday morning alertly spotted an Infiniti G37 in the area of Murfreesboro Pike near Ranson Place that was suspected of being involved in multiple vehicle burglaries/thefts. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed until the car finally spun out and crashed while exiting I-24 at Harding Place.

Gelsen Verela Dubon, 18, fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. Three handguns and a rifle were recovered. One of the handguns had been reported stolen and another was equipped with a switch making it fully automatic.

Dubon is charged with felony weapon possession, gun possession during the commission of a felony, evading arrest, and possession of burglary tools.

The investigation continues.
