Last week, our Home Office team joined the Central Texas Food Bank for CoreGiving Day-one of many volunteer events held around the world by Blackstone and its portfolio companies to help fight food insecurity. In Austin, our team worked alongside volunteers from Renaissance, Link Logistics, Ontra, and LivCor, sorting and packing more than 16,850 pounds of food, providing 14,041 meals for families across Central Texas.
Across more than 90 cities worldwide, over 3,500 volunteers from 30 portfolio companies came together to advance CoreGiving's mission to end childhood hunger. We're proud that ACC team members also took part in volunteer events nationwide-from the Greater Chicago Food Depository and North Texas Food Bank to Feed More in Richmond, the San Antonio Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Banks in Orange County and Central Florida, and Kids' Meals in Houston-each making a meaningful difference in their local communities.
CoreGiving Day is part of a broader movement that funds and prepares millions of meals each year for children and families. Since its founding, CoreGiving has provided more than 77 million meals, a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when compassion and purpose meet action.
At American Campus Communities, service is one of the ways we bring our values of integrity, leadership, and care to life-helping students, families, and neighbors thrive together. "It's inspiring to see the power of collective action," added James Wilhelm, Chief Development Officer. "Standing side by side with our colleagues reminds us that when each of us gives a little of our time, we can make an enormous impact together."
If you're inspired to get involved, consider volunteering with a local food bank in your community. Most food banks offer opportunities to sort donations, pack meals, or assist families directly-and even a few hours of your time can make a real difference.
